Valentine’s Day!

There are a lot of mixed feelings towards Valentine’s Day. Some people love it, others use it as an excuse to grab a box of chocolates and a tissue box, and go sit on the couch watching sappy movies to remind them of what they don’t have. Me, well, like the awesome photographer I am, I use it as an opportunity to get some sweet studio portraits. In these, I overexposed, I really OVER-exposed. I like the look it gave, I wanted a cupid angelic look, and I believe that I got it. I also used a pink filter in the back light, so there is a tint of it in the background.

This right here is my favorite picture of the bunch. I always get just that one chance to get the happy care free picture of Katie, and it is always my favorite. I love how its overexposed, just as all my pictures in this are. There is also this pink glow behind her that helps give it the Valentine’s Day look. Oh, but of course the heart shaped lollipop gives it the ultimate final touch!

This is my second favorite of the bunch. I love the focus, how the lollipop is blurry and her face is in full focus. This picture is just so Sadii, when she is care free and lets all the heavy stuff off of her mind.

On this picture, I saturated the lollipop a little bit more to make it stick out more. At first, I was going to do some selective color on this picture, making only the pink pull and the rest be black and white. After trying it though, i decided this was most definitely a color project, and that just by barely saturating the lollipop more than the rest of the picture, it made the effect I was going for.

I like this one because they are both looking over at something, but all you see is an extra set of hands and a lollipop. It just appeals to me that there is a hint of mystery in the picture.

Sadii, the girl on the far left, is just completely oblivious in this picture. While the other two gals are having some kind of heart lollipop fight in the background, these kind of moments just make my day. When something really funny is happening, yet the person right next to it doesn’t realize what’s going on.

I just love this. That is all I have to say.

This is one of those awesome perfectly imperfect pictures. You can’t see her eyes, yet I love love love this picture.

That is it for now!

Love the world, and all its inhabitants,***

Really watch your exposure, it can be the difference between what is a good shot and a great shot. The background light is very hot and spills onto the subject.

Shoots like this can be fun, but try and focus more on discipline and just going to the studio and going crazy- be focused, know what you want to get, have links for inspiration, and nail the shots paying attention to the little details (light being overexposed, etc. you know, the small stuff)

I think these pictures are so cute. I like how you take the picture when no one is paying attention. It shows everyone just being natural, and i think that makes for a great shot. The only thing is your exposure. The background is so bright that it makes people blend in. But i still like the pictures just because it shows a natural happiness in everyone. My favorite is the second to last one, its the best (:
